Packing for Storage |

Place all the items that you will need to get to frequently in the moving vehicle first (so they will be placed in the front of the storage unit). |

Label all boxes on several sides for easy locating. |
| |

Use large boxes for light items and smaller boxes for heavier items. |
| |
• |
Store clothing in wardrobe boxes so you can hang your garments. |
| |
• |
Wrap wooden furniture, mirrors and picture frames in blankets or paper pads. |
| |
• |
Dishes and glasses should be wrapped in packing paper and placed in dish pack boxes. |

• |
Furniture with drawers can be utilized as storage places for knickknacks, china, silverware and small items. |
| |
• |
Store small, non-flammable items like pots and pans inside of large appliances, such as stoves or refrigerators. |

• |
When storing lawn and garden equipment, drain any fluids prior to storage to avoid corrosive damage. |

• |
Be careful not to store anything combustible (such as paint and chemicals) or perishable (such as food that is not permanently sealed). |

When storing business files, label all boxes and construct aisles so files are easily seen and accessible. |

Make an inventory list of all your stored items and keep it in a safe place at home or in a safe deposit box. |

Cover stuffed furniture with a dust cover to protect against dust. |

Keep refrigerator and freezer doors slightly ajar and clean before storing. |

Shovels, hoes, rakes and hoses can be stored together in empty trash cans. Stack extra cans inside one another. |
